18 Holes of Golf at Steenberg Golf Club
Designer Ken Elkin.
Distance Champ 6 424m, Club 6 115m, Par 72.
The Steenberg Golf Course and Estate offers the golfer the complete package. In terms of a resort course, look no further than Steenberg. The five star graded Steenberg country Hotel, championship golf course, guided tours and wine tasting on the edge of the Constantia winelands make golfing at Steenberg an unforgettable golf experience.

Steenberg is both private and exclusive. Only hotel guests, members and their guests are allowed on the course. This is a luxury in season, as it avoids over crowding normally associated with golf courses in Cape Town during the summer months of November to April.

Steenberg Golf course has a flat layout with wetland and parkland features. The fairways are divided into four distinctive regions, namely Wetlands, Parklands, Cape Flats and Fynbos. These regions take advantage of all natural features and hazards that golfers have to navigate. Some of these features include large waste bunkers, running creeks, water hazards and excellent bent greens.

Check out the par-three 7th at the start of the wetland section of the course. It is surrounded by water on three sides and a bunker on the fourth.

Overnight at Cape Riviera

18 Holes of Golf at De Zalze Country Club
Designed by: Peter Matkovich
Type: Combination of Links and Parklands
Holes: 18 Par: 70
Length: Championship: 6385m Club: 6385m
De Zalze Golf Course: The De Zalze Golf Course situated within the De Zalze Winelands Golf Estate was designed by Peter Matkovich who has made the most of the stunning setting and created a course that places a premium on accuracy. The course has an excellent mix of parkland holes with its main defences coming from the water features on several of the holes as well as the Oak tree lined Blaauwklippen River which winds its way through the golf estate and comes into play at various intervals.

The golf course is an exciting addition to the group of international standard championship golf courses recently built in the Western Cape region of South Africa.

The De Zalze Golf Course has hosted a number of championship events including the 2006 World Amateur Team Championships (Eisenhower and Esporito Santo trophies) which attracted teams from approximately 80 countries around the globe.

De Zalze Golf Club welcomes visiting golfers from around the globe and is geared to provide an exceptional experience from the moment you arrive. After your round of golf you may be tempted to relax on the open scenic terrace and enjoy a delicious meal together with a selection of some fine wines from both Spier and Kleine Zalze, two of the regions premier wine producers.

Overnight at Kleine Zalze Lodges

Day 5
We check out of our hotel after an early breakfast and make our way along the scenic N2 to our next destination. Dinner tonight will be at leisure.

Fancourt Hotel
Fancourt Hotel and Country Club Estate, Southern Africa's premier golfing and leisure destination, lies at the foot of the majestic Outeniqua mountains in the heart of the Garden Route. A combination of Olde Worlde charm and contemporary luxuries is what makes the Fancourt Hotel so distinctive.

Five fine restaurants offer a variety of dining experiences and bear testimony to Fancourt's reputation as purveyors of fine cuisine. From the intimate and elegant dining of the Montagu Restaurant to La Cantinas authentic Italian fare, the freshly prepared seafood dishes of Le Pecheur, the locally sourced produce of Bramble Lodge at The Links, the Morning Glory's health meals and light snacks, Fancourt's cuisine is a gourmets delight.

The Health and Beauty Spa offers you the ultimate in relaxation in the most heavenly setting. The Spa has been redesigned to exacting international standards so as to refresh and revitalise your mind, body and soul. Our personalised treatments include hydrotherapy, aromatherapy, reflexology and a range of calming facials and massages as well as a hairdressing salon.

Day 6
After a relaxing breakfast make your way down to Montague Golf course.

18 Holes of Golf at Montagu Golf Course
Designer: Gary Player
Distance: Champ 6 284m (6 095 yards), Club 5996m (6 589 yards) Par 72.
The Fancourt Montagu is considered one of the best conditioned golf courses in South Africa and has been ranked as the top course in the country a few times. The Montagu takes in a setting of mountains, water and wildlife. It is cleverly designed, picturesque and presents a challenge to golfers of all levels.

These Gary Player designed courses are demanding fair tests set in beautiful surroundings. The generous kikuyu fairways and fast bent grass greens give a taste of the type of course, popular on the US tour.

The most challenging, nerve-racking and enjoyable hole is the par-three 17th. Only by clearing a large expanse of water can the green be reached - similar to the 12th at Augusta National.

Since golf at Fancourt is limited to members, their guests and hotel guests will have ample time to play at their own pace, taking in the golfing experience that is Fancourt.

Overnight at Fancourt

Day 7
After a leisurely breakfast, we check out of our hotel and make our way through to Knysna. We play a round of golf before checking into our hotel and enjoy a cruise through the Knysna heads.

18 Holes of Golf at Outeniqua Golf Course
Designer Gary Player Design Co.
Distance Champ 6 450m (7 038 yards), Club 5 981m (6 572), Par 72.
The Outeniqua Golf Course was named after the mountain range that runs along the Garden Route coast. This parkland layout is not as popular as Montagu and the Links but mainly due to aesthetics and nothing more. The Outeniqua Golf Course takes in a setting of mountains, water and wildlife.

The Outeniqua Golf Course is cleverly designed, picturesque and presents a challenge to golfers of all levels.

The Outeniqua short par-four 4ths will keep big hitters guessing whether or not to go for it and face the risk of the waterway that dominates the right side of the green and fairway, or play it safe and lay-up!

Since golf at Fancourt is limited to members, their guest and hotel guests have ample time to play at their own pace and take in the golfing experience that is Fancourt.

Sunset Cruise
With only the sound of the wind in her sails and water lapping against her bow, Our sunset cruise and her experienced skipper will take you on a magical sailing experience where estuary meets open ocean, creating a lasting memory.

See the Knysna Heads as the sailors of yesteryear did and, in season, spot whales and dolphins frolicking in the water. Spectacular sunsets are accompanied by a sundowner and anti-pasta platter.

After the cruise, spend some time at leisure in the Knysna Waterfront with its many shops and restaurants. The hotel will be happy to assist you with dinner bookings.

Day 8
After breakfast make your way down to the golf course for your well deserved game of golf. Dinner will be down in the Waterfront this evening.

18 Holes of Golf at Simola Golf Club
Designer Jack Nicklaus
Distance: Champ 6 466m, Club 6 095m
Holes: 18
Par 72.
18 holes designed by Jack Nicklaus - the Golden Bear himself - and built in two natural amphitheatres. Glorious views from every corner of the course. The Outeniqua Mountains, the Knysna Lagoon, the Indian Ocean and the clean, pure air of South Africa's Garden Route. Golf at Simola is the sublime experience.

It goes without saying that a course as great as Simola should have a club house to match.

The Simola Golf Clubhouse will be part of the Grand Simola Hotel. Guests and members will have access to hotel facilities like our Gourmet Restaurant, indoor training pool and Wellness Centre.

The Simola Golf Clubhouse will also give offer its very own Pro Shop as well as spacious changing rooms. And the exclusive Private Lounge will comfort the needs of each of our prestigious members.

As golf courses on the Garden Route tend to be very special, this is no different. When you walk off the 18th at Simola you will look back on the course and say 'wow that was a fantastic layout'.The spectacular 10th hole involves a tee-shot from a 200meter elevated tee. Your ball has a huge amount of air-time before landing in a narrow landing area of this incredible par 4.

Overnight at Simola

Day 9
After an early breakfast, we check out of our hotel and make our way down to Pezula for a round of golf before travelling further along the N2 into the Eastern Cape and to St Francis. Upon arrival, we check into our hotel and freshen up before our Canal Cruise.

18 Holes of Golf at Pezula Golf Course
Designer Ronald Fream/David Dale.
Distance Champ 6 394m (7 030 yards), Club 5 987m (6 579)
Par 72.
Sparrebosch Clifftop Estate in Knysna is home to the spectacular Pezula Golf Course. The only serious problem that you could face when playing at The Pezula Championship golf course is running out of film for your camera! Pezula, without doubt, possesses one of the best locations on the African continent. This golf course is situated on the East head of Knysna, overlooking the Indian Ocean, Knysna lagoon and the Outeniqua Mountain range. It is also in the heart of the famous Garden Route.

The course's designers, Ron Fream and David Dale (Golfplan USA) have compared the look of Pezula golf course to that of Gleneagles in the Scottish Highlands and Pebble beach on the Monterey coastline. A terrain of rolling fairways, fynbos and eyebrow bunkers does, however, make it very difficult to walk this course but don't panic golf carts are provided for all golfers!

The five different tee options on every hole cater for all skill levels. No two challenges, or views, are alike. The signature holes are the three holes built on the cliff top overlooking the ocean; the par-five 13th, par-four 14th and the par-three 15th. The par-four 14th is particularly challenging - it is short and requires you to lay-up before firing at the pin. The green is completely surrounded by bunkers so be careful not to overshoot out-of-bounds and over the cliff!

Canal Cruise (Weather Depending):
Enjoy a relaxing and comfortable cruise and experience South Africa's own 'Little Venice'

Thatchwood Country Lodge
Situated at the entrance to the village of St Francis Bay, overlooking the golf course. Your hosts Harrie and Sarah will cosset you with warmth, in a relaxed home from home atmosphere, where nothing is overlooked - but the golf course.

On warm summer days you can relax at the poolside, whilst the cosy lounge invites friendly conversation around the fireplace in winter. The lodge is fully licensed and guests are invited to help themselves at the honesty bar. Superb buffet breakfasts are served in the enclosed patio, to the accompaniment of birdsong provided by the prolific birdlife in the natural vegetation surrounding the lodge.

Francolins, weavers, waxbills and a host of others will keep you fascinated when they come for their repast. Being near the St Francis Bay's golf courses 6th tee, the manicured greens and fairways stretch into the distance towards the sea providing a tranquil, extended garden to the tastefully thatched lodge.

Day 10
After a leisurely breakfast, we enjoy our round of golf. The afternoon will be at leisure. Followed by a dinner in St Francis Bay.

18 Holes of Golf at St Francis Links
St Francis Links is a natural course between the beach and arable land. Jack Nicklaus has had the pleasure of taking Mother Nature's best piece of links land and signed his name to something unique.

St Francis Links will challenge all who play it and reward those who respect it. The layout combines every element of shot making with its undulating terrain, greens and surrounds as well as its variation in length and direction.

The shape of the greens comes from the natural movement of the land. The greens have simply been placed on top of the sand, changing shape in construction as the wind changed its mind.

Some are more undulating than others. All putting surfaces and green surrounds present a mental and physical test. St Francis Links is South Africa's Pure Links!

Overnight at Thatchwood Country Lodge

Day 11
After breakfast we check out of the lodge and make our way back to Port Elizabeth. You will be transferred to Port Elizabeth Airport, in time for your connecting flight home.
