After finalizing the paperwork, depart from Johannesburg and head towards the picturesque province of Mpumalanga. Mpumalanga, which means "land of the rising sun" in the local SiSwati language, has it all -- from exhilarating wildlife, to secluded mountain retreats, ancient ruined cities, wild water sports, and some of South Africa's most diverse and vibrant African cultures. The province's year-round sunny weather, soaring peaks, steamy jungles and expansive waterways have also made it home to a bewildering array of adventure sport, from expeditions down the world's oldest caves, to taking flight at the continent's largest paragliding festival. Accommodation is booked at Rissington Inn (or similar) on a Bed and Breakfast basis. Day 3 Notes for Today: After a hearty breakfast, depart the Lodge for a full day self guided sightseeing tour. The Panorama Tour abounds with breathtaking views from natural wonders along the eastern slopes of the escarpment. There is God's Window and the world's third largest canyon and biggest green canyon, the Blyde River Canyon. There are also the astonishing Bourke's Luck Potholes and three rondawels. The towns of Lydenburg and White River are gateways to the route, which takes visitors through the quaint towns of Pilgrim's Rest, a living museum dating back to the hey days of the gold rush, as well as Sabie, Graskop, Ohrigstad and Hazyview. Day 4 Check in at Nkorho Bush Lodge, for 2 nights 1 Double for 2 nights on FB basis Situated in the Sabi Sands Game Reserves and shares an unfenced border with the Kruger National park. The Game Reserve enjoys one of the highest and most bio-diverse wildlife populations of any area in Africa. Day 5 Check in at Berg - En - Dal, for 1 night 1 Bungalow Double for 1 night on SC basis Berg-en-dal is situated on the bank of the bank of the Matjulu Spruit with a view of the softly undulating hills of the east on the northern and southern sides dry riverbeds. Special care has been taken to preserve the natural vegetation in the camp. Accommodation includes: campsites, bungalows, family cottages and guest houses. ![]() Notes for Today: Enjoy your last early morning game drive in the Sabi Sands before returning to the Game Lodge for a hearty breakfast. Departing from the Sabi Sands travel towards the world famous Kruger National Park where you will spend one night en route to Mozambique. The world-renowned Kruger National Park offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa. Day 6 Check in at Holiday Inn Maputo, for 1 night 1 De Luxe Room double for 1 night on B&B basis The Holiday Inn Maputo is the only bech front hotel in the city of Maputo. Situated just 8km from the International Airport, facilities include a sea view restaurant and bar, 2 board room facilities as well as free internet access in all guest rooms. Exiting the Park at one of its southern gates, you will drive towards the Mozambique border, just outside the town of Komatipoort. Once you have finalized the cross border formalities (see enclosed border crossing instructions) head off towards the capital city of Mozambique - Maputo. The colourful city has various places of interest to visit, including the Railway Station, Eiffel's House of Steel, the Natural History Museum and the fortress. Your accommodation has been booked at the Holiday Inn (or similar) where you will overnight on a Bed and Breakfast basis. Day 7 Check in at Flamingo Bay Water Lodge, for 3 nights 1 Water Chalets double for 3 nights on HB basis Flamingo Bay Water Lodge is situated on stilts in the mangroves behind Barra Lodge. This eco-paradise is home to flocks of flamingos, tropical fish and the very rare dugong. This lodge is unique and the only one of it's kind in Africa. Flamingo Bay prides inself in having an undistturbed eco-setting that is peaceful and pristine and endevours to keep it that way. Flamingo Bay's water chalets are spacious and well appointed with balcony wide opeing sliding doors and air-conditioning. In the early 15th century, Portugese explorers established a permanent trading post at Inhambane, making it one of the oldest European settlements in Southern Africa. Another of the reminders of its historic past is the 200 year old Cathedral of Our Lady of Conception - well worth a visit. The bay of Inhambane is normally filled with dhows - traditional sail boats used by locals - which can be rented for a wonderful wind powered cruise along the calm bay. Some of the very best scuba diving, with Manta Rays and Whale Sharks a regular sighting during dives, can be found just off the coast of Inhambane and the Dive Centre at Barra Lodge will be able to cater to all your diving needs. Your accommodation has been booked for three nights at Flamingo Bay Water Lodge (or similar), half board basis and is inclusive of select non motorized water sport activities. Day 10 Check in at Casa Rex, for 1 night 1 Acacia room double for 1 night on B&B basis The Casa Rex is overlooking the Bazaruto Archipelago, it offers magnificent views of the islands & the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Accommodation at CasaRex includes 4 Premium rooms, 8 Luxury rooms and one honeymoon suite. All the new luxury rooms have fans and air-conditioning, internet connections, en-suite bathrooms and private balconies with beautiful sea views. The beach is situated appoximately 100 meters from the lodge on the steep incline and is not really a swimming beach as it is close to the harbour. Amid the turquoise shallows surrounding each island, in the tidal inlets and shaded sea pastures opening into the deep Mozambique Channel, a wealth of marine life exists. A vast variety of water sport activities and trips to the islands can be enjoyed from Vilanculos. Your accommodation is booked for one night at Casa Rex (or similar) on bed and breakfast basis.
