Day 1: Keetmanshoop - Lunch & Dinner
Your journey takes you out of Windhoek and on to the southern highway. The Kalahari Desert is on one side with the central escarpment on the other. Pass through Rehoboth, the capital of the Bastar people before reaching our camp at the Quiver Tree forest. These are fascinating 'tree aloes' and quite unique to this part of the world. This is a lovely setting to see the sunset and enjoy your first evening under the stars.
Day 2: Orange River - Full Board
Visit nearby Giant's Playground before continuing our journey south through the town of Keetmanshoop, past the Naute Dam and down to the Fish River Canyon. The route continues south all the way to the Orange River, Namibia's southern border. It is an amazing sight to see green vegetation and flowing water! Camp on the banks of the river and enjoy an evening completely by ourselves in a very tranquil setting.
Day 3: Aus - Full Board
After a morning on the Orange River, head north into the desert, past the zinc mines of Rosh Pinah and Skorpion and up to the small town of Aus. Our camp for the next two nights is right on the edge of the escarpment overlooking the Namib Desert. There is time for an afternoon walk up some of the surrounding hills to watch the sunset.
Day 4: Aus/Luderitz - Breakfast & Dinner
An early start is required so as to make the most of our day in and around Luderitz. We travel across the diamond "forbidden zone", where we may see the wild horses of the Namib. Once in Luderitz, there is the option of a boat cruise to see the Jackass penguins and Heavysides dolphins. Later in the morning we visit Kolmanskop Ghost Town. In the afternoon we have the chance to go to Diaz Point and explore some of the rugged coastline around Luderitz. Return to Aus.
Day 5: Sesriem - Full Board
Head north along the edge of the Namib Desert to Sesriem. A visit will be made to Elim Dune.
Day 6: Sesriem - Full Board
We are up well before dawn so that we can drive out to the dune fields to watch the sun come up. Head on to Sossusvlei and some of the world's highest sand dunes. These magnificent dunes, with their endlessly changing and contrasting colours, are an amazing sight. Afternoon visit to Sesriem Gorge.
Day 7: Return to Windhoek- Breakfast & Lunch
Travel via the Remshooghte Pass on to the Central Highlands of Namibia, continue to the Kupferberg Pass with arrival in Windhoek during late afternoon.
