9 Day Botswana Desert & Delta Itinerary

Day 1
On arrival at Johannesburg Airport you are met by a representative from Wilro Tours who hands over your travel documents and assist you onto your flight to Maun in Botswana.

On arrival at Maun Airport in Botswana you are met by a representative from Desert and Delta who assists you to the luggage collection area to collect your luggage and onto the scheduled Charter Flight departing from Maun Airport to your first lodge in the Okavango Delta where you stay at Camp Okavango in a Suite for the next three nights. This afternoon you either enjoy a Mokoro Trip or Motorized Boat Trip.

Camp Okavango
The camp is situated on a remote island within the heart of the permanent Okavango Delta. The camp comprises of 11 twin bedded East African style safari tents each with private hotel showers and waterborne toilets. There is 1 exclusive executive suite with private en suite facilities. The main lodge building is constructed of reed and thatch, comprising a main dining rooms, lounge and bar areas. Camp Okavango is essentially a water wilderness experience, game viewing is undertaken by small river craft, canoes and on nature walks under the leadership of our resident naturalist. For the Ornithologist bird watching is spectacular, particularly during the migratory season from November through to March. The Okavango is famous for its fishing, which includes the fighting tiger fish, pike and bream species.

Camp Okavango is situated on the remote Nxaragha Island in the heart of the permanent Okavango Delta, assuring a year-round water wilderness experience. Camp Okavango's unashamed luxury blends with the Africa of old in the elegant thatch and lethaka main lodge buildings. The dining room leads onto an expansive open-air patio for evenings around the open boma. Other lodge facilities include a cocktail bar, lounge, wildlife reference library, a secluded bird-viewing hide, shaded hammocks, a delightful sun deck and plunge pool for relaxing during the hot midday hours.

Accommodation
Camp Okavango accommodates only 24 guests in intimate exclusivity in East African-style safari tents individually situated on raised teak platforms with en-suite facilities and private sun decks. Each tent is exquisitely furnished with an African teak wardrobe, luggage rack, dressing table, bedside pedestals and traditional director's chairs. Colourful woven rugs, designer linen and matching interior blinds complete your African hideaway. His and hers towel robes as well as tea and coffee making facilities are also provided to make guests' stay as comfortable as possible. For those who demand the ultimate in exclusivity, Camp Okavango boasts the "Okavango Suite" a thatched cottage offering complete privacy and the option of private game-viewing activities and dining options - ideal for honeymooners.

What is included
Your stay at Camp Okavango is inclusive of accommodation, all meals, all local brand drinks, scheduled game-viewing activities, park entrance fees and laundry service.

Safari activities
All game-viewing activities are conducted by experienced professional guides and include exploring the Okavango by canoe (mokoro) and motorboat. Guided nature walks on the various islands afford an opportunity to track some of the larger species that inhabit this water wilderness. Bird-watching opportunities are outstanding, and fishing for bream and tiger fish is also offered as an activity at the lodge.

Electricity
Generator power (AC 220V) is available during the day and evening. Video batteries can be recharged. Suites are equipped with a 240-volt AC plug for hairdryers and 12-volt DC lighting for nighttime use, after the generator has been switched off.

Day 4
This morning you are collected from Camp Okavango and transferred by boat from the Okavango Delta to the Moremi Private Game Reserve where you stay at Camp Moremi in a Suite for the next three nights. This afternoon you will enjoy a game drive in the Moremi Private Game Reserve.

Camp Moremi
Camp Moremi is situated on the beautiful Xakanaxa Lagoon in the heart of the Okavango Delta, within the Moremi Wildlife Reserve. Xakanaxa is renowned as one of the best game viewing areas in Botswana. The large sun deck affords an unsurpassed view of Xakanaxa Lagoon. Accommodating 22 guests in East African-style safari tents, individually situated on raised teak platforms, each tent is exquisitely furnished with an African style furniture. Colourful woven rugs, designer linen and matching interior blinds complete your African hideaway. Each tent has its own private bathroom situated adjacent to the tent. Tracking big game on morning and afternoon game drives by open 4x4 safari vehicle, excellent bird-watching, exploring the Xakanaxa Lagoon and surrounding Okavango channels by motorboat.

Camp Moremi is situated on the beautiful Xakanaxa Lagoon in the heart of the Okavango Delta, within the Moremi Wildlife Reserve. Xakanaxa is renowned as one of the best game viewing areas in Botswana. Shaded by giant ebony trees, the magnificent Moremi tree lodge is an elegant elevated thatch and timber structure consisting of a main lounge, wildlife reference library, dining room and stylishly decorated cocktail bar cooled by overhead punkah-punkah fans. The large sun deck affords an unsurpassed view of Xakanaxa Lagoon. A secluded swimming pool, covered boma and elevated observation platform assures Camp Moremi of its status as one of Botswana's finest destinations.

Day 7
This morning after a final morning game drive and breakfast you are collected from Camp Moremi and transferred to your scheduled charter flight departing from Camp Moremi Airstrip to Kasane Airport.
On arrival at Kasane Airport you are met by a representative from Desert and Delta Company who transfers you to Chobe National Park and to Chobe Game Lodge where you stay in a Suite for the next two nights. You will enjoy a game drive in the late afternoon in the Chobe National Park.

Chobe Game Lodge
This is one of Botswana's most exclusive safari resorts. Situated in the remote and unspoilt northern extremity of the Park and approximately 90 kilometres west of Victoria Falls, the lodge offers every luxury and comfort for your sojourn in the wilds. The architecture is Moorish and graceful - high arches, barrel-vault ceilings and tiled floors create an atmosphere of spaciousness and tranquillity. All 48 rooms are tastefully furnished and cooled by overhead punkah-punkah fans. All rooms overlook the perennial Chobe River and adjacent Caprivi flood plains. Facilities within the lodge include a well-stocked curio shop, wildlife reference library and stylishly decorated Linyanti bar and lounge area. Game drives are conducted in open four-wheel drive vehicles. The Chobe flood plain is renowned for its concentration of buffalo and elephant, and the late afternoon in particular provides spectacular viewing. A sunset cruise down the Chobe River is an experience that will always linger.

Day 9 This morning after a final morning game drive and breakfast you are collected by a representative from Desert and Delta and transferred over the border to Zambia to Livingston Airport for your departure flight to Johannesburg to connect to your onward flight back home.

Once I have booked and confirmed all accommodation and services I will send you a booking confirmation and terms and conditions to sign and a 25% non refundable deposit will be due. Payment can be made by bank transfer or credit card.
