African Safari FAQ

Budget

An African safari may not be a cheap endeavour, but with the assistance of our competent, friendly tour consultants you will be able to tailor a holiday experience that accommodates any budget concerns you may have.

The criteria that will determine the cost of your African safari include:

The time of year. - Although the African continent mostly experiences comfortable temperatures throughout the year, certain seasons are more pleasant than others and therefore attract more visitors. If your travel plans fall in high season you should expect your accommodation and tours to cost considerably more.

Your country of origin. - Depending on where you are travelling from you may benefit from the exchange rate with regard to your local currency. Bear this in mind when booking your safari. On the other hand, flights to Africa are long and you can expect your airfare to make up a substantial portion of your budget.

Your destination. - Every country differs with regard to the costs of basic living and depending on your destination you will have to budget accordingly. Two countries to keep in mind if you have a limited safari budget are South Africa and Namibia. As emerging Third World countries, both these destinations have healthy economies and creature comforts do not come at too high a price.

The type of safari you want to participate in. - Don't fall into the trap of comparing regular, commercial, scheduled tours with private safaris. These are two very different experiences and in most cases you will get what you pay for. Usually your safari package will include basic activities, but you can expect to pay extra for more exclusive experiences like hot air ballooning, water sports, etc.

The length of your stay. - The longer your trip, the more expensive it will be. Accommodation, entertainment, travel and food expenses will be directly influenced by the length of your holiday.
