Frogg's Leap
The huge Frogg's Leap verandah, with its impressive
views of the Hout Bay mountains and sea seems to be the focal point of
life here. At breakfast the house springs to life with Joke and Stewart
engaging in easy banter with all who emerge, and chiding guests for sitting
at the long wooden table inside when the parasol-shaded tables outside are
se enticing. Then in the evening, with the sea breeze swinging the hammocks
and a sundowner in your hand, it is not hard to get to grips with being lazy
and on holiday. I can't remember a place where guests made themselves so
at home. Joke and Stewart used to run charter boats in the West Indies and
Frogg's Leap has a breezy Caribbean feel with many open French doors and
windows. Bedrooms are cool ensembles of natural materials: painted floors,
seagrass matting, palms, natural stone in bathrooms, lazy wicker chairs,
reed ceilings, thick cotton percale linen an old wooden furniture.
