Kulala Desert Lodge & Kulala Tented Camp
South of sesriem gate to Sossusvlei lies the 21 000 ha Kulala Wilderness
Reserve. The reserve is the closest to the famous red dunes themselves and
has a private access gate to the Namib Naufluft-Park. The reserve harbours
tree camps, all with magnificent views, tastefully decorated and total
exclusivity. Kulala Desert Lodge's main area compromises reception, lounge,
dining room, bar, wrap-around verandah and swimming pool. Guests are
accommodated in 12 thatched kulalas, each built on an elevated wooden
decking to ensure maximum airflow, with twin beds, en-suite facilities and
a flat rooftop area where guests can spend the night.
Little Kulala is situated on the dry Aub River with statute dead
Camel Thorn Acacias standing as relics to their kind as the backdrop.
The camp is a mini replica of the Kulala Desert Lodge, but has
only 8 kulalas and each one has its own private plunge pool and
rooftop sleeping area. Nestled against a picturesque rocky mountainside,
Kulala Tented Camp comprises 6 walk-in meru tents, on elevated
decks, each with en-suite facilities. The main area consists of
a thatched dining room, lounge and bar with a sweeping walkway
to the shaded pool.
