Moholoholo Forest Camp
Beneath the mighty Moholoholo Peak (Mariepskop) in the
midst of Drakensberg rain forest and lowveld acacia woodland, the camp is
situated on the slopes of Moholoholo - The very Great One. Accommodation in
secluded thatched cabins on stilts, providing the ultimate retreat. Each chalet
has en suite facilities and ceiling fans in the bedrooms ensuring a most
comfortable stay. Meals are served in the reed boma around a lowveld log fire
or in the thatched dining room. One of the special features of the camp is the
open verandah which overlooks the forest and a waterhole where a great variety
of animals and birds can be spotted. Nyala, Bushbuck, red and grey Duiker,
Samango and Vervet monkeys, Baboon, large and small Nagapies, Bushpig, Leopard
which can sometimes be heard at night, Kudu, Waterbuck, Tsessebe, Impala,
Eland and Giraffe are just some of the animals which can be seen. Bird and
Game walks and the interaction between Rain Forest and acacia woodland, provide
a unique opportunity to relax and admire nature's diversity and beauty.
Experience wild birds and animals at close quarters on a conducted tour of
the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. The killer talons of a crowned Eagle;
the crushing jaws of a spotted hyena; examine and touch the stripes of a Zebra
or witness a flying display by one of our trained Raptors - these are some of
the encounters awaiting you at Moholoholo.
