Premier Classe Luxury Trains

The Premier Classe luxury train holiday concept first came into being in 2001, when proprietors invited passengers aboard four sumptuous coaches that accommodated only 24 guests at any given time. By 2006 the venture had expanded to include seven further coaches, bringing the total to eleven coaches, and accommodating 84 guests. The brand new Premier Classe train that was unveiled in 2007 now brings the total number of guest spots to 126.

The train travels from Johannesburg to Cape Town twice a week, and from the very moment that you step into the temperature-controlled coaches you'll be enveloped in the elegance and affluence of an era gone by, accented with the comfort and convenience of modern amenities. When it comes to attention to detail, the Premier Classe simply cannot be beaten. Here you will enjoy lavish rooms, attentive staff and a veritable smorgasbord of extras that set it apart from other conventional coach services.

From the very moment you set foot in the lavishly appointed departure lounge you will immediately feel at home. Tea or coffee will be served as your luggage is taken care of by staff members, after which you will be invited aboard and given the grand tour of the facilities.

Once everyone is settled in, the journey begins and you can choose how you would like to spend your time aboard. Some prefer to simply watch the scenery roll by outside the window, while others stroll to the lounge car for refreshments. You could even treat yourself to a spa experience - the Premier Classe now offers its passengers access to Amani African Spa treatments while onboard. The first train spa in Africa, this is the ultimate in luxury and relaxation.

The Premier Classe schedule is as follows:

Johannesburg to Cape Town: Every Thursday and Sunday
Cape Town to Johannesburg: Every Tuesday and Saturday

Each mini train vacation is approximately 25 hours long and stops at some of South Africa's best loved tourist destinations. Please note, however, that time has not been factored in to include excursions off the train.

TUESDAY & SUNDAY FROM JOBURG TO CAPE TOWN:

14h00: Guests meet up at the Premier Classe lounge in Joburg for tea and coffee prior to departure.
15h00: Departure from Joburg station. Welcome drinks and refreshments are served in the Lounge Car.
19h10: Dinner is served in the Dining Car.

FRIDAY & MONDAY:

07h00: Early morning tea or coffee is served on request.
09h00: Breakfast is served in the Dining Car.
10h00: Morning tea is served in the Lounge Car or your room.
12h30: Lunch is served in the Dining Car.
15h30: High tea is served in the Lounge Car or in the comfort of your room.
16h16: The train arrives in Cape Town.

TUESDAY & SATURDAY FROM CAPE TOWN TO JOBURG:

08:00: Guests meet up at the Premier Classe lounge in Cape Town for tea and coffee prior to departure.
09:05: Depart from Cape Town station with welcoming snacks and beverages served in the Lounge Car.
12:30: Lunch is served in the Dining Car.
15:30: High tea is served in the Lounge Car or in the comfort of your room.
19:10: Dinner is served in the Dining Car.

WEDNESDAY & SUNDAY SCHEDULE:

07h00: Early morning tea or coffee is served on request.
09h00: Breakfast is served in the Dining Car.
10h00: Morning tea is served in the Lounge Car or your room.
11h03: The train arrives in Johannesburg.
