One of the Spice Islands, Zanzibar is renowned for its white beaches and blue waters. Zanzibar accommodation is world-class and there are a number of things to do and places to see. Zanzibar has a diverse cultural heritage, making a walk through town simply fascinating.

With a number of five star resort chains on the island that cater to a superior clientele, Zanzibar accommodation is luxurious, rooms are fully equipped, and offer every amenity you could possibly require. The resorts offer both a la carte and buffet-style dining, and there are a number of local and imported beverages for your enjoyment, including fresh fruit juices made from locally grown fruit. Here there are swimming pools, gyms, and spas for your enjoyment. The resorts are quiet, peaceful areas, a haven from the hustle and bustle of ordinary life.

The island lies just south of the equator and can be subject to afternoon rain showers. The area has a tropical climate and is warm and humid, with gentle breezes wafting the fragrance of spices across the land. Daytime temperatures are around 30 degrees Celsius, but have been recorded as high as 38 degrees, while it rarely drops below 20 degrees at night. Most Zanzibar accommodation has air-conditioners installed in the rooms, while the bars and dining areas are open to allow gentle winds to blow in.

When you travel Zanzibar it will usually be in an air-conditioned shuttle belonging to your hotel. While there are quite a few other vehicles on the roads, many of the locals travel by bicycle or on foot. The local fishermen sail in dhows, and there are a few entrepreneurial locals who have customised these to be more comfortable for tourists wishing to sail around the archipelago. The local people are very friendly and many of them have a good grasp of the English language.

At the historic Stone Town you can enjoy walking through the local markets, eating freshly caught seafood prepared according to tradition, buying some of the spices that perfume the air, or purchasing locally made arts and crafts. If you prefer water sports diving, snorkelling, reef walks, and kite boarding and wind-surfing can be arranged.

If you want a relaxing tropical island holiday, travel to the Spice Island where you will find excellent Zanzibar accommodation, friendly locals, and a beach paradise.
