The local people are very friendly and many of them have a good grasp of the English language.
At the historic Stone Town you can enjoy walking through the local markets, eating freshly caught seafood prepared according to tradition, buying some of the spices that perfume the air, or purchasing locally made arts and crafts. If you prefer water sports diving, snorkelling, reef walks, and kite boarding and wind-surfing can be arranged.
